Steve Irwin, better known from the TV program Crocodile Hunter, is dead.
I personally did not like the fact that his TV programs focused mainly on sensationalist handling of dangerous animals in various stunts.
However, there is another side of Irwin that is mainly conservation and environmentalism. He quietly lobbied the government and prevented the establishment of a game hunting tourism industry for salt water crocodiles in the North West of Australia, and bought vast tracts of land for conservation.
Irwin's death was not brought on by a crocodile, but rather a stingray, while diving in Australia's barrier reef.
In Asia and Europe, Carp is a much sought after fish. In North America, it is considered more of a pest than a trophy.
Steelhead is one of the most sought after fish in North America.
Peter Forsskål was a Swedish scientist who did a taxonomical classification of animals of the Red Sea region, and used the Arabic name as the species name.
Puffer fish are somewhat strange looking fish, with two large teeth in each jaw, forming a beak. They have slimy sandpaper like skin with small nodules on it. If the fish is disturbed, it gulps water rapidly, increasing its size enormously, and causing the nodules on the skin to protrude giving it a coarse feeling.
