There was this post on Slashdot about Wordpress and Joomla! and which one is more usable.
Someone posted about Drupal using terms that we all in the Drupal community will like, e.g. "use Drupal!".
We always saw Drupal with a reputation of being "powerful but ugly", "elegant from the inside but not pretty", ...etc.
The followups are surpising and delightful: use Drupal regardless!
Nice to hear that ...

Drupal is more complicated
Thu, 2009/03/05 - 08:05Drupal is more complicated than Joomla. Because Drupal developers focuses more on extensibility.
For example, to create simple Joomla plugin you need to create 3 files.
To create simple drupal plugin you have to create about 7 files.

Slight Correction
Thu, 2009/03/05 - 16:36Just to make a slight correction... to make a simple drupal module you need to have just 2 files... not 7. :)
Cheers,
Matt

Easier is a funny word
Thu, 2009/03/05 - 09:22First, I am not a coder... I know very very little php or html/css. The type of sites I can create with drupal are truely amazing. Joomla is very very restrictive compared to drupal. Once you get over the weird terms like node, taxonomy, field (cck), view... its a snap to build crazy powerful sites.
I used to use joomla for all my sites, but now that i've gone drupal... I'll never go back.
The above comment on '7 files' for a 'plugin' (also known as a module in drupal) isnt really true. Most modules only require 3 files, an .info file, .install file, and .module file. If you have a complicated module you will need more than that... but thats the same w/ any program (including joomla).

And in fact once you
Sun, 2009/03/22 - 22:01And in fact once you understand the weird terms, you start to realise that they're not so weird after all. A node is more than just an article - it can also be content types, newsletters, survey forms depending on the modules you're using.

Drupal is more powerful than joomla
Fri, 2009/05/22 - 08:16Although Drupal is more powerful than joomla, but joomla is more famous than drupal, mostly because i has user friendly interface.
Drupal has a gr8 architecture, its learning curve is little steeper than joomla but once you are used to it, you will never lookback to joomla.

Drupal is number 1
Wed, 2009/12/23 - 08:13I have used both Joomla and Drupal, I agree that Drupal is more complicated than Joomla, and this is why when I first start creating website I went for Joomla because my personal performance was better using it, but recently I decided to change this completely and start learning Drupal again, and I feel great with it even I am sure that I don't understand even 10% of it's incredible features! and by the way I am originally a web designer and have a little experience with PHP, means I can read it but I can not write it ;)
