The Site in a Day competition by Full Code Press, was held in August 2007. Team Australia chose Drupal, while the New Zealanders chose custom coding.
In the aftermath, SitePoint's blogs had an interesting discussion.
So, earlier this month, Matthew Magain decided to interview the backend developers from both teams.
Some key points mentioned:
- WordPress was considered by Australia's team, alongside with Drupal. The list of modules available for Drupal was one factor in favor of using Drupal over WordPress.
- Drupal saved them time in the compeition.
- There was a learning curve involved, and the team would have definitely benefited from learning more about Drupal .
- Features they liked: built in permissions and security, content revisions.
- Drupal is very popular, so it should be easy for clients to find developers for it.
- There is lots of room to enhance the site in the future via modules and upgrades.
