The Nokia N810 is due to come out on October 23 (next Tuesday). It runs a variant of Linux Debian. It was even made to work in Arabic by M Sameer.

A few tidbits on NCR and Bill Nuti in the news ...

On October 1st, NCR spun off Teradata (TDC) as a separate company to the shareholders of record. So far, the net is positive gains by the combined shares as compared to the pre spin off price.

Thanks to Angela Byron, there is now an easy way to learn and contribute to Drupal.

If one checks the Drupal issues assigned to patchnewbie, they will get a list of relatively simple issues that need patches. This is suitable if one wants to cut your teeth in Drupal, but daunted by the magnitude of changes required by complex issues.

If you know someone who wants to contribute but was shy, or daunted, go ahead and pass that info to them. Or even go and try it yourself.

A Toronto company put out a job on Monster.com for Flash developers. The candidate should know Lynux though. What exactly is that?

If everyone pronounced Linux the way Linus does (Lee-nooks), rather than the Anglicized (Lie-nooks) this would not have happened.

On Thursday, there was a Drupal Users Group monthly meeting in Toronto. All the Lullabots were there, except for Robert Douglass (marooned in Germany), along with 2bits.

Last month, Google purchased Zingku, a mobility social networking web site. Today, they announced that they acquired Finland based Jaiku, which allows posting short messages that friends receive on their mobile phone, much like Twitter.

With the rumored GPhone set to launch before end of 2007, Google seems to be reaching out wider in the mobility field.
