What to do when not attending DrupalCon?

Not attending DrupalCon has its benefits, here are some, which were cheerfully discussed on IRC #drupal yesterday by those "left behind".

  • We, the "left behind" folk have a quiet channel, so those suffering from ADHD or new eyeglasses do not suffer more.
  • We have an imrpoptu surprise Dojo session.
  • We organize a virtual Alt DrupalCon, using IRC and Skype. Who needs jet lag?
  • We can discuss Drupal's port to Java, even to ASP.net ...
  • We can debate whether to move Drupal's repository to SVN or Git, with no fear of reprisal.
  • We can make comments into nodes.
  • We can even make users into nodes.
  • We can support PHP7 only, even when it is in Beta.
  • We can discuss Drupal being sold to Oracle.
  • We can migrate to Drupal on Rails (Dora!)
  • We can enforce a new draconian rule that says users who did not post a patch in 2 weeks have their account blocked ...
  • We can redesign Druplicon with no freaky eyes ...
  • We can make a front page post of all of the above ... priceless ...

Feels almost as good as having a teen party in the house when the parents are away ...
