NCR Corporation has been headquartered in its birth place, Dayton Ohio, since its founding in 1884.

When Bill Nuti was hired as NCR's CEO in August 2005, his contract had a clause that he could be fired for cause if he does not relocate by August 2006. See the 8-K filing with the SEC.

Relocation

The anonymous user of Drupal fame has finally been located. Well, it is his statue, in a park in Budapest, Hungary.

Due to a bug in the t() function, the translation came out as ANONYMVS, and not Anonymous.

Within the Drupal community, our beloved chx (Károly Négyesi), who cannot be distracted, is recognized as the Drupal core developer with the most code via patches.

What is not known, is that Károly is also a national hero in his native Hungary. During my summer visit to Budapest, I saw an amazing number of signs in his recognition: There are streets named after him, and even parks!

We all thought that Drupal's headquarters will be in Belgium, its birth place.

However, it was discovered that this is not the case, and that the headquarters of Drupal are in snowy Toronto, They are at 215 Spadina Ave in downtown Toronto, suite 400.

Two recent reviews of the XO One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) are very interesting. The first is by a 12 year old, and the other is by a 9 year old.

I don't use Windows myself, let alone Vista, since I am an open source advocate, and have no need nor desire for Windows.

That being said, I had a brief encounter with Vista. I bought a laptop, which as all of today's computers, comes with Microsoft Windows Vista. As I always do, I reformatted the drive and loaded Kubuntu on it.

Last month, a photo was circulated by email and on blogs that has a pack of pork meat with a sticker saying Halal on it. The packer is a Singapore company and the country of origin is Australia.

Halal حلال is an Arabic word meaning 'permissible', but in non-Arabic speaking Muslim countries it takes a legal meaning derived from Islamic law. Pork is forbidden in Islam, just like Judaism. Hence it can never be "halal" in either sense of the word.

It seems that some bloggers thought it was true, while others thought it was a sick joke.

Nowadays, it is often taken for granted that Muslims are staunch Anti-Semites. Most people in the West either do not know, or deliberately ignore, historical facts to the contrary.
