List Of Alternate Contributed Drupal Modules Repositories
Every Drupal developer and enthusiast knows where to go to get add-on/contributed Drupal modules (I mean from the project pages on Drupal.org). This is the most convenient place, since it is a one stop place that most developers use. What is not known is that there are other sites that I often run across that have collections of Drupal modules. For one reason or another the own does not have the time to apply for a CVS account, ...etc.I strongly recommend that anyone who wants to share modules use Drupal.org as the repository. The reasons are many, such as:
- You get your module advertised to a far wider audience.
- You get issue tracking from Drupal's project module.
- You get version control via CVS (which may soon change to a better revision control system).
- You get more people looking at your code, finding bugs, and fixing them by offering patches.
- You get modules translated to languages you do not even speak.
So I urge anyone who is reading this to go and apply for a CVS account and start using the project module for issues.
