Here is another job offer type scam. This is most likely a money laundering operation, with the victim collecting the money order and cashier cheques from other victims of other types of scams, and forwrad the ill gotten gains to the scammers.

On May 15 afternoon, Waterloo region went through a severe thunderstorm, and perhaps a tornado. Power was cut for 1 hour 40 minutes, and cable TV and internet were off till next day. Several trees fell, some on houses causing damage, and even power poles, one at Gateview and Erb, very close to where we live.

Several tree branches were ripped apart. Some really thick. Rain was driving horizontally too to the house.

In Monkton, near Stratford, there was a confirmed Tornado that tore apart a barn, and killed several cows.

The University of Guelph developed a technique called DNA barcoding that can identify species. They intend to catalog the world's estimated 10 million species via this technique.This is cool stuff, given that when I was studying biology in high school and university, identifying a species and putting it in a place in the taxonomy involved morphology and anatomy, and nothing more. Here are some notes on Drupal Camp Toronto 2007, held on 11 and 12 May.

Venue

The event was held at the Bahen Centre at the University of Toronto downtown campus. The rooms booked were the right size and accommodated all the attendees.

Attendees

Although 152 people registered, I am not sure if they all attended. I noticed that Angela Byron (from Montreal) and Boris Mann (Vancouver) did not attend.

People from as far away as Cleveland Ohio, New York/New Jersey and even Chicago.

Andrew Stevenson did a 5 minute Speed Talk at Drupal Camp Toronto.

Earlier, he was in one of the sessions I gave (Building communities using the Userpoints module and API).
