  3. Another form of Internet Fraud: Usenet Forsale Scam

By Khalid on 2006/08/08 - 10:12, last updated 2006/08/08 - 10:12

Here is a classic scam from Craigslist. They offer to buy your item you advertised via classified for more money than you ask for ($375 in my case, he offered $500).They even give you a bleeding heart story about wife dying in accident.

From: ike derico Alright,i live in North Georgia United State.Am quite comfortable with the condition of the item since i wont be making any repairs on it,i will like to offer you $500 including packing materials without you paying for any shipping charges b'cos i already have an account with FedEx,i would have loved to make the payment in cash and carry but we are not in the same state so i will like to go ahead with the payment by sending you a Money Order But i will need your contact infomation in which the money will be deliver ok.I wonna buy this [item name] for my step son to fulfill the promise his mum made before she died,i lost my lovely wife to an auto accident on 29th of June 2005 and since then i and her step son john have been living seperately and i want to buy this item for him because his mom promised him before death took her away from us and i think with this i and tobi can live as a family. Kindly get back to me immediately you receive my e-mail and i will like you to take it off craigslist for auction cos am serious in buying it.So let me have your full infomation ofr pyment to be made.... Best Regards. .I.Derico

Note how they can't pick up proper English names? I got another from 'ortega hanson'.

Yes, it is a scam!! Many of the scammers are preying on the patriotic sympathies of the American public and are posing as a military person (is against the law to do this, too!) If anyone refuses to meet you in person BEFORE the transaction it should be a red flag! Same thing for anyone that is "sending someone" to do business for them or offers more money than you are asking.....RUN the other way!!! Deal in person only and only in cash...always have someone with you if someone comes to your house...LOTS of scammers out there just waiting for someone not to "be on their toes"

Same scam

Wed, 2011/04/27 - 12:11

Thanks for the cordial response :>) .I have to take my chances because not risking at all is the worst mistake,I'm quite comfortable with the available unit and it's living environment.I would have loved to call you but my cellphone service provider can't access long distance international calls. You can call my apartment line if really you feel like speaking to me.+44-702-3038999 UK.

Hope we can get along together though I know it kinda hard expressing oneself via email, but I'll put my pride in the gutters and try to be as explicit as possible.

About me ....I'm a single 27 self employed, deal with supply of hospital equipments...I'm 5'10 long hair, hazel eyes with a athletic build.I prefer cleanliness than any other traits,I'm honest, responsible, and hardworking while I dislike lazy, messy and uncaring people.I love pets so much,am quiet and easy going. I'm straight and also gay friendly. I always love to go on a date but seldom party. I neither smoke nor drink,I swim for fun and sometimes play tennis also i enjoy snowboarding.

I must confess that i am comfortable with the price,I will like to secure the place down pending my arrival.. I'll also be shipping my things down to the States such as My Toyota Avalon (XRX 2009)which I've been using for over 6 months now,and some personal effects. don't worry am not bringing in Furniture's I will easily purchase the one's I need when i arrive.

Moreover,Let me know how I can go about securing the place down and filling any necessary paperwork before my arrival as i'll be busy preparing to come over.

My present roommate Linda lin.rose147@gmail.com

Right now I have thought of it and understood that moving to the US will not only help
boost my business but also improve my personal life.I hope you'll finally consider renting to me ,I assure you that the rules and terms would be strictly adhered to .I have been introduced to different landlord and room owners but they don't seem easy to get along with, I hope we can get along well as I wait to read from you soon via email.

Sorry for the email novel .I know its a lot to read and i apologize for coming on strong im just looking for a reliable place when I move down.I look forward to hearing positive from you again.Have a splendid day.

Thanks and take care,
Anna

Hello,

Thanks for your reply toward my request for your item, I am very happy to hear that the item is still available, the price you want to get the item sold is acceptable by me and I hope it is in good condition. I run a TV SHOW residing in 822 Roosevelt St. Wichita Falls

Actually, I am buying this item as a gift for my Boy; He was currently transferred to West Africa, he is a staff of world health organization and he was transferred to West Africa for awareness to stop HIV/AIDS and Malaria. I will pay through PayPal and you will help me mail the item to Him through US postal service (USPS).

Kindly provide me with your PayPal email and if you don't have you can simply log on to http://anonym.to/?http://www.paypal.com/ and register for one so you can get back to me with the PayPal if it's accepted. I will be adding a shipping fee of $100. I think ($1100) will cover the shipping and your money.

I need this item as soon as possible so that it can be able to get to Him. Please I would have love to see it locally and pay for it but I have a tight job schedule as I run a TV SHOW, http://www.bobedwardsradio.com/ my days are always busy. that is why I can’t do this locally or pick it up, hope you will understand. Kindly get back to me ASAP so that I will make the payment, I assure you that once I receive your information for the payment, I will send out the payment to you quickly.

I wait to hear from you Asap. so that I can make the payment as fast as I can.

Regards,
Kim.

MY RESPONSE:

Well I dont think your very good at scamming, in fact you fucking suck. I could tell the instant i seen the name Kim jones, two too common names, dick fuck. And you talk too much at that, try cutting the nonsense and bullshit about your son, nobody cares about what someones kid is doing. All they wanna hear is that you wanna buy there shit and your willing to give them what they're asking. Rambling is always a giveaway. Actuually if you wanna learn a few things let me know, otherwise your gonna continue to make the petty money that you do. I can give you a few ideas if you wanna make some real money, let me know. Or let me demonstrate. Oh yeah STOP using the funeral homes address, thats also a no no. Let me know what you wanna do you fucking amature. I could use a partner in a different state. Hit me up. It would help if you read a few psycology books. Its all in the mind my friend.

scam on Craigslist--Boston

Sat, 2011/05/14 - 17:35

Just received an offer from someone using an exact template from above:

"Got your mail. I'm due for vacation to London but I will instruct my assistant to prepare and mail your payment which I'm sure you will get in about 4 - 6 work days. I don't mind adding $20 extra for the delay. Payment will be by M O or cashier check so send me your info (i.e full name, mailing address and your phone number) so payment can be mailed out immediately. I will also make arrangement for pick-up which will be after you have received and cashed the payment.
Awaiting your info.
Thanks"

I guess this is not news anymore for readers of the page. This is just incredible.
