Here is a classic scam from Craigslist. They offer to buy your item you advertised via classified for more money than you ask for ($375 in my case, he offered $500).They even give you a bleeding heart story about wife dying in accident.

From: ike derico Alright,i live in North Georgia United State.Am quite comfortable with the condition of the item since i wont be making any repairs on it,i will like to offer you $500 including packing materials without you paying for any shipping charges b'cos i already have an account with FedEx,i would have loved to make the payment in cash and carry but we are not in the same state so i will like to go ahead with the payment by sending you a Money Order But i will need your contact infomation in which the money will be deliver ok.I wonna buy this [item name] for my step son to fulfill the promise his mum made before she died,i lost my lovely wife to an auto accident on 29th of June 2005 and since then i and her step son john have been living seperately and i want to buy this item for him because his mom promised him before death took her away from us and i think with this i and tobi can live as a family. Kindly get back to me immediately you receive my e-mail and i will like you to take it off craigslist for auction cos am serious in buying it.So let me have your full infomation ofr pyment to be made.... Best Regards. .I.Derico

I was selling a truck on craig's list when I was contacted by email from "danwilly777@gmail.com" he stated that he wanted to by my item
So he fedex me a check, for the price of my item plus the shipping price. he wanted me to deposit in my bank account and withdraw my money to cover. As soon as I got the check I called the Bank it was draw-on . They stated they wasn't sure if it was real. So I took it to my local check cashing company. They contacted the bank , of course the check was fake. They kept a copy and sent back to the bank, I was told by the police not to send the check back. The people behind this could get your finger prints. This Person name on the Fed-ex paper was Norman Momin from Syracuse, UT. The Person emailing me use Danny Williams, The Person that I was suppose to Western Union Money to was Paul Locas, Southwark, London SE15RG United Kingdom. The Fake Check was from The National Bank of Blacksburg , Blacksburg, VA. The company name on the check was Asian Technology Conference In Mathematics, Radford,VA

Paypal scams

Sat, 2009/04/18 - 10:36

I have noticed a new type of scam and it is involving paypal, or what I believe to be a scam. I have received three emails from three different people who didn't live in my area asking if the item was still available. Since it is, I said yes, however, on every one of the occasions I received a follow up email offering info about what they plan to do with the item (IE. for daughter's birthday, but she is in Africa), and others. They asked for my paypal account and offered over $100 for shipping to various places, of which it shouldn't cost nearly that to ship. The email address are:
jerryjame103@gmail.com, michealdon1@gmail.com, rickwillfride1@gmail.com
BE CAREFUL, I believe they are trying to scam.

Here is one of the emails:
I'm interested in the immediate purchase of this item i will be paying
you a sum of $450 i will want to complete the transaction in a very
timely manner and i will like you to ship out the item through via
USPS EXPRESS MAIL SERVICES(EMS SPEEDPOST)if you can do this, email me
with your paypal id so that i can proceed with payment right away.let
me quickly say that i will be sending this unit to my son in WEST
AFRICA ,he need this item urgent for his birthday gift, i will be
happy if u can email me back now.

Hope this helps one person for losing their item.

It is a scam

Tue, 2009/04/28 - 09:22

Just recieved this offer on my ipod:
Thanks for your reply,i live in Baltimore (Maryland) I`m currently working in Manchester and I`ll be staying there for the next approximately 7 months, I'll like to buy your item and pay you with cash through my PayPal account. Currently I'm out of the State and won't be available for pick up. Moreover, I'm buying this item for my company agent, i`ll add the sum of $100.00 to the amount to cover the shipping expenses to him through (USPS) Global Express Mail International (EMS). i want you to send to me your PayPal account id, so that immediate payment can be done, and if you are new to PayPal, you can easily log on to http://www.paypal.com/us and set up an account with them with either your Bank account Information or your Credit/Debit Card details and its simple and easier, just in few secs; you get your account activated. PayPal is very secure and reliable. Let me know if you still want to sell this item for me.
I am waiting your email.
Thanks.
