I think I'm just soooo lucky that I've got 2 of these F*&@#r's.
Sat, 2010/01/23 - 21:58I'm in the process of trying to sell my acoustic guitar for $600(or nearest offer) on craigslist montreal.
I'm not going to post these emails yet as I'm going to give the scammers a chance to send me their cheques(which I'll take directly to the police). I have no problem giving them my info cos I live with 3 young mexican guys and anyone that tries to fuc with us is going to have a fiesta on their hands.
I got one email from someone claiming to be a sergent with the US army and wanting to know if the guitar was still for sale.
I said yes and then I got an email saying that the person's really busy and wants to send me $600 + shipping + $100 extra for running around because they were going to send me a cheque, get the shipper to come and pick it up and then the shipper would give me the rest of the money sent to the shipper via western union money transfer. I was asked for my mailing address, name, etc which I gave.
The second was from a regular seeming person with the same question.
I said yes it is for sale and he gave me the idea that he would send the cheque which would be 'excess' of the cost of the guitar. A mover would then come by and pick it up and I would give them the excess.
This is what I find wrong with these stories
The first email
- I'm told the person is from the USA. Why wouldn't they say that in the first place seeing I'm in Canada?!?!? Why the f*&@# look for a guitar for sale in Montreal when Im sure there are many on sale in the US state which this person claims to be from?
- This person is claiming they will pay for the item at full price + shipping + 100 extra. Why not go to your local guitar shop and save the $150 or so and get a different guitar, especially seeing this person hasn't seen my guitar at all.
- This person wants to send me a cheque, which they say takes 2 to 3 days to clear(which it won't- I know my bank and IT WONT)
- After they send the cheque, someone is going to pick up my guitar and give me 'the rest of the money' BS.
The second email
This one is the BIGGER load of BS of the two;
- The person claims to be paying excess of the cost of the guitar by cheque(why would anyone ever do this, cheques can always be made to exact prices). He then wants me to pay this 'excess' to the mover/picker(he used both terms)
- He used the work 'picker' for the person who is going to 'pick up the item'. Is this person from North America? I don't think so.
- Why pay me by cheque when the picker( who I can only assume you are trying to con me into believing is from Montreal) can give me cash for the item himself.
WTF! are these A-holes working in tandem?!?!? I would believe it if the emails weren't so similar. And I'm from Australia and we don't use craigslist. On the first email I was actually hoping that it was true. I'm angry. Very angry. If you kind people that are trying to con me read this before you send out your f-wit cheques. Then please, why not move from scamming to mugging. That's right, your criminals, you have my address. Come over. I say 'muggings' cos the door is always locked and there are always people home, usually someone's awake. So you couldn't simply brake in and rob us. Really come over. I'm the only white guy living here. Try to take me as I leave my house. I will kick the living SH%#T out of you. Let's have a fiesta.

2nd email address to send this same letter is: 726ywtet@gmail.com
Hi,
I'm glad it's still for sale. I'm going on a vacation to London but I will instruct my assistant to prepare and mail you your payment which I'm sure you will get it in about 4 - 6 business days. I'll add $20 extra for the delay. Money Order is the means I can pay you with. If this is acceptable by you, Send me your info i.e full name, mailing address(not a P.O.Box) and your phone number so payment can be mail out immediately.
I will also make arrangement for pick-up which will be after you must have received and cashed the Money Order.
Awaiting your info
Thanks
Michael
