Since 2006, the Drupal community in Toronto has been holding annual DrupalCamps. Although it says "Toronto", we have seen people from as far away as New York, Winnipeg, and Vancouver come to attend the event.
This year, we are holding the 3rd annual DrupalCamp Toronto event.
The event will be held at the Bissell Building on the campus of the University of Toronto on May 23rd and May 24th 2008.
Attendance is free, but donations are welcome.
This is a quick reminder that the monthly Drupal Users Group meeting for Waterloo Region is tomorrow May 2nd, 2008, 19:00 to 21:00 at 43 Queen St., South. We will be discussing modules, and then have a general Q&A towards the end, as usual. If you live in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge or surrounding areas, please come and join us.
Check out the proposed logo for DrupalCon Szeged 2008 that my Hungarian friend Ivan Raszl created. It is inspired by the decorations on porcelain and embroidery hand made in Hungary.
Ivan is not only a creative director, but also a long time Drupal user and excellent themer as well.
I often get asked which sites run Drupal in Arabic.
Here is a list that I started. Please add any Drupal Arabic sites that you know of in the comments.
As planned, the meeting happened!
A total of 7 people showed up, some from out of town, and we had a very fruitful discussion.
We started by introducing every one, and then I gave a brief intro to break the ice and get the discussion going. A copy of the presentation is attached below in Open Office and PDF formats.
After that, we went around the table and everyone showcased one of their sites.

We start with Drupal first ...
Skiquel posted a working rickroll module for inclusion in Drupal 6.2 core. The module did work. I even cleaned up the code style (by hand) and submitted a patch and a couple of screen shots. The followups are hilarious.
The inaugural meeting of the Waterloo Region Drupal Users Group is this Friday, April 4, 19:00 to 21:00 at The Working Centre in 58 Queen St. S. in Kitchener (near King St.)
The topic is a brief intro on what is Drupal, and some sites use Drupal, globally, in Canada and in Waterloo region. More importantly, it is about getting to know fellow Drupallers in the region.
Dries Buytaert, Drupal's founder and project lead, released Mollom in public beta today.
After coming back from DrupalCon Boston, I had this conversation with Salma, my 4 year old:
Salma: You went to America?
Khalid: Yes?
Salma: What for? You were visiting cousins?
Khalid: No, I went to visit Drupal ...
Salma: Is he our cousin?
Khalid: No, but he sure is family ...
With a mom and dad who both code for Drupal, Salma is a Drupal baby ...
