Here is a classic scam from Craigslist.They offer to buy your item you advertised via classified for more money than you ask for ($375 in my case, he offered $500).They even give you a bleeding heart story about wife dying in accident.

Possible Scams?
Thu, 2009/01/22 - 08:54I received the following two emails from Craigslist after posting an ad to sell an executive desk. Both emails came from a similar and somewhat "generic" address. lisajones00@gmail.com and another from a Ruth Baker with a similar gmail address and both sign off with some religeous message. Anyone know anything about this as a scam. Should I just ask them to send a check and ask for a phone number to contact when it clears? Any info would be appreciated.

Mon, 2009/01/26 - 10:50Please do not fall for this. The same thing happened to me. When you go to the bank they will tell you it is a verified account and cash the check. You think youre ok until 6 weeks later the bank figures out that is a stolen or fake check. I know that the bank shouldnt clear it but they do and then youre stuck paying back the money. Please take my advive and do not cash this check. Tell the buyer you only accept cash.
