Here is a classic scam from Craigslist.They offer to buy your item you advertised via classified for more money than you ask for ($375 in my case, he offered $500).They even give you a bleeding heart story about wife dying in accident.

They will give you a fake check that sometimes the bank will say is verified even though it isnt and want you to cash it and send them money back via western union or money gram. They could care less about what you are selling all they care about is getting the money. Do not except checks from anyone unless you know them. Try to do transactions some other way like pay pay or something. Do not trust them when they tell you the check will clear because it might but that doesnt mean it is a real check. The bank will find out sometimes 6 weeks later that the check is a fake and you are stuck paying back the money.

Mon, 2008/12/01 - 18:13Financially, you have to cripple people doing this kind of stuff, otherwise you will most certainly have to keep flagging people. People need to get smart and not fall for this stuff anymore. On top of it, people need to send info to the Craigslist flagging authorities at craigshitmen.com to really hit em where it hurts. Even though they are for profit, they care about making Craigslist a better place.

Thu, 2009/03/26 - 14:10i got the exact same email from this guy after a few replies he even offered me an extra $50 for my car . he was so pushy wanting my full name, address, phone number . he said he would have his banki manager and his secratary and his mover do all the work . he said he was out of the states . and the second and third email he referred to the car as the item and even asked how much i was asking again and asked me to send photos again . it was like he had so many going on he just left out the specific. Finally i told him that i was aware of scams and that if he wanted to business with me he would do it my way, i told him my conditions and he has yet to reply. he had three or four different names and addresses.
