Another scam via Craigslist: offering more than asking price

Can any tell me why they want your address? Since it's available in a phone book or on-line, why go to the trouble for just a name and mailing address?

I got his money Check so I wont wire or pin accout to him! If i going to That Western Union money bank should i get all cash out without wire or else so he will lose all money he for a reason fault scam! So i would keep all cash 3200$ if that possible and i know I WONT WIRE THAT F***ING TO THROUGH BANK OR ESLE ANYTHING!! Just go straight for whole cash out that where is Western Union Bank? Here is the sequence of emails this person sent to me. Originally, I was okay with it (cautiously). But after finding this site, my guard went all the way up. In my last correspondence with them, I stated that I am now weary about this. My way of feeling comfortable in continuing was to have them send the check to a hotel and have them hold the check at the front desk. I additionally stated DO NOT send more than my stated price payable to myself only. Told them to handle shipping and payment with the shipper directly; I'm not part of that. Just tell me where and when to bring the "item" (a truck in my case). They never referred to it as a truck, never asked any additional questions about it or requested additional photos and never used my name back (all replies were signed with my name). You can also see that their punctuation is poor. One other thing I noticed was that they only used one "slang" (gonna); everything else was written like it was a foreigner or new to English (would never have used gonna).

I feel like I've found a safer way around this and wanted to share. I was not comfortable with giving my address (my original worry was that they'd just come and steal it). So if you are worried about this, have them send it somewhere public or to your work or something. Also tell them you'll meet them somewhere to deliver the item (if possible), that you are not giving your address.

ive got the same stroy, they've tried to do the exact same thing here in sydney australia,
mark smith said he was an oceanographer working at sea and that he wanted to by my item off ebay for quadtripple of my starting price, he said it was a gift for his son.
and Barberra Curr had the EXACT SAME STORY LINE.
she said she was a marine engineer working out at sea at that moment and that she wanted to buy my item for tripple the starting price for her dad, AS A GIFT. (this is the same one person.)
they both said that they needed me to setup a paypal to recieve the money, so i did.
so i sent Mark Smith a money request over paypal for $5000, he accepted the request but added in another $750.
But the money didnt clear into my account.
he said that i had to pay $650 to some "AGENT" guy all the way in LONDON. then they said once i had sent the money that they would clear the $5750 into my account.
luckely i got a lawer to look over this because i thaught it was a bit suspicious.
NOW MARK AND BARBERRA OR WHATEVER THEIR REAL NAMES ARE ARE IN DEEP DEEP DEEP DEEP CRAP.
ive got a fraud lawer looking into then and tracking them down.
they're screwed now.
