By Khalid on 2006/08/08 - 10:12, last updated 2006/08/08 - 10:12

Here is a classic scam from Craigslist. They offer to buy your item you advertised via classified for more money than you ask for ($375 in my case, he offered $500).They even give you a bleeding heart story about wife dying in accident.

From: ike derico Alright,i live in North Georgia United State.Am quite comfortable with the condition of the item since i wont be making any repairs on it,i will like to offer you $500 including packing materials without you paying for any shipping charges b'cos i already have an account with FedEx,i would have loved to make the payment in cash and carry but we are not in the same state so i will like to go ahead with the payment by sending you a Money Order But i will need your contact infomation in which the money will be deliver ok.I wonna buy this [item name] for my step son to fulfill the promise his mum made before she died,i lost my lovely wife to an auto accident on 29th of June 2005 and since then i and her step son john have been living seperately and i want to buy this item for him because his mom promised him before death took her away from us and i think with this i and tobi can live as a family. Kindly get back to me immediately you receive my e-mail and i will like you to take it off craigslist for auction cos am serious in buying it.So let me have your full infomation ofr pyment to be made.... Best Regards. .I.Derico

Note how they can't pick up proper English names? I got another from 'ortega hanson'.

Mary Barrett strikes again!

Sat, 2012/03/24 - 18:39

Mary Barrett strikes again! Well, attempted. She posed as a student in Nigeria needing money for tuition because she had ran out of money. She also stated that both her parents died in an airplane crash 2 years ago and had no family left. I didn't believe her one bit.

scams by craig

Tue, 2010/10/26 - 13:15

I had a dog for sale. 1,200.00 AKC registered, Craig Bergstrom sent 3,500.00 ups. I knew it was a fake, good looking check, but I can tell, their laungage is different. They said send difference back. I call the company the check was written on, I ask did you send me a check to buy a dog, they say no it is fake...

These people steal peoples names, it is not their real name or address. Western Union will allow them to pick up the package any where in the state, so you don't know what location in that state they will be at to pick up that money, neither do the police. They have UPS fake accounts, and scam them as well, or some one on the inside is working with them. UPS needs to have a person pick a package up at a given location, and then they can chatch them.

Report scams all scams to FBI they will give you a number and have you save check/package/envelope/all letters/emails as their proof when they chatch them, they will need that information and they will contact you to get that information it is their case against these people. All these people want is cash, so they use fake everything, all they want to do is open that envelope and get the cash.
I told this last person YINKA I do not put up with scams. I do not send cash back for a over payment in a chcek, I report to FBI and STILL she did try and scam me by sending a 3,500.00 check, see they don't listen, understand english, all they care about is that cash back. They don't want the dog or your item, they will not come get it or have a shipper come get it, they just want cash back. They pull rental scams/dog scams all kind of things. Their job is to sit on the computer all day and buy things and print checks for their scams. If any one writes a company check, you know it is a scam. See if your boss will write you a check for 3,500.00 to buy a dog, he will tell you it is a company check and for business not your personal delights, use your brains.. Don't take it to the bank you will get arrested, they will call the police and the they will be there to arrest you for trying to fraud your bank out of money. Call the place the check was written on, report it to the FBI at
ic3.gov Help put all of them in jail.

Craig Bergstrom scams

Mon, 2010/11/08 - 13:27

Received emails from Craig:

Thank you for your response, I am freelance modeling agent. I am coming with my clients to your area for photo shoot and I would need you to get these items for us: Kindly let me know the total cost plus the necessary tax I am to pay on it. Also to let you know that I cannot use my credit cards due to some problems I'm experiencing on them and I'm willing to pay for the order in advance including shipping fee. I'm using a mode of cashier check and I would need to know the total of all the products I requested and please get to back to me ASAP.

Thanks for your time.

Craig

Next Mail:
I was just informed by my sponsor that my payment check was over written mistakenly and wrote $1500 instead of your actual amount...i.e. He wrote both your payment and the payment meant for the model to make traveling expenses to the location..I know that you are honest and I can trust you with this fund, I'm pleading to help me deposit the check in your bank account and remove your own portion of the payment and send back the remaining balance via western union on my information below:

NAME: Craig Bergstrom
AVAILABLE/DESTINATION: Fresno, California 93726

Kindly deduct western union charges from the remaining balance and get back at me with the following details after sending back the rest fund;

SENDERS NAME:......
AMOUNT SENT:........
MTCN........

Its nice doing business with you and hope to do more... Thank you very much, we really appreciate your help & understanding.

Final email:

Thank you, my contact address is 3330 E Dakota #131 Fresno California 93726, please let me know as soon as the check clears your bank. Thanks and God bless you.

Regards,
Craig

Paypal scam

Wed, 2010/08/18 - 20:57

So i've had two offers on my computer for sale and their scam is for me to sign up for paypal and then send a request for the funds. They offered me more then I asked. One guy (rayscabin1@ gmail.com and smithchray@yahoo.com) wanted me to send the computer to west africa where he was going on business. The other person (lea.bassini02@gmail.com)wanted me to send to her daughter for her b-day. I just got another one(serenawilliams63@gmail.com) also offering more then the asking price. I read up on paypal and apparently they can freeze up your acct without cause and any problems with the transaction can also go as far as bringing up criminal charges.
