Here is a classic scam from Craigslist. They offer to buy your item you advertised via classified for more money than you ask for ($375 in my case, he offered $500).They even give you a bleeding heart story about wife dying in accident.
From: ike derico Alright,i live in North Georgia United State.Am quite comfortable with the condition of the item since i wont be making any repairs on it,i will like to offer you $500 including packing materials without you paying for any shipping charges b'cos i already have an account with FedEx,i would have loved to make the payment in cash and carry but we are not in the same state so i will like to go ahead with the payment by sending you a Money Order But i will need your contact infomation in which the money will be deliver ok.I wonna buy this [item name] for my step son to fulfill the promise his mum made before she died,i lost my lovely wife to an auto accident on 29th of June 2005 and since then i and her step son john have been living seperately and i want to buy this item for him because his mom promised him before death took her away from us and i think with this i and tobi can live as a family. Kindly get back to me immediately you receive my e-mail and i will like you to take it off craigslist for auction cos am serious in buying it.So let me have your full infomation ofr pyment to be made.... Sun, 2011/01/02 - 13:25just got the same thing!!! glad i googled this!!
Good day and hope you are doing great?.My assistant told me that you still have the item for sale. I am willing to pay your asking price,You will receive your payment in 4-6 working days,i would have loved to come and see it in person but due to the busy nature of my job that wont permit me,i will be making payment by money order or check and i will be needing your phone number, full name, address or p.o box address to make the payment to as i do not want to lose this sales to other potential buyers,if you will keep it in my favor,i dont mind adding thirty ($30) dollar for the delay.pick-up wont be a problem as i already have made an arrangement for that once you receive payment.
Awaiting your reply
Happy New Year

Tue, 2010/12/07 - 13:43I am glad that I did a google search becasue Mrving emailed me this mornign affering 100 dolalrs fro my 50 dollar dress. Apparently his assistance emailed me first to see if I still had it and then he saids he was on a business trip and wanted to send me the money plus extra too hold it and send it to him. I actually told him I was very skeptical of sending the product before the payment clears and I would have to wait till it clears my bank to give it too him then I just got online and googles divine stores and this is what I found.. .lol Wow!!!

SCAM!!!!!!!!
Thu, 2010/11/11 - 16:28I received the same email. He was out of town, in London and his assistant is sending me a money order. I was asked to remove the item. At first I offered to hold the items until his return for cash. But he said the MO was easier. He never did answer my questions on how many air conditioning he wanted, which made me a little concerned, then I notice the email address he was writing from changed. Today I received an email he has over paid me and I should take my cut and go to Western Union.
I agree, western Union come on! Can't believe I lasted this long thinking this was real. First who offers to pay more, who tells a complete stranger "I can trust you'll do that", or "I think you are alright".
First inquiry was from a Scott Nicole

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I'm going on a vacation to London but I will instruct my assistant to prepare and mail your payment which I'm sure you will get in about 4 - 6 business days. I'll add $20 extra for the delay. I'll pay by M O or cashier check so send me your info (i.e full name, mailing address and your phone number) so payment can be mailed out immediately. I will also make arrangement for pick-up which will be after you must have received and cashed the payment.
Awaiting your info.
Thanks

scammer. I thought I'd look up his domain name and sure enough I found a duplicate email here at this site. Word to the wise: IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, ITS A SCAM!

same scam from two different people
Thu, 2010/09/09 - 09:59This is what I got when I was trying to sell a brand new wedding gown.
Thank you for your email.
I would have loved to come see it but i cannot as i am out of town in
preparation for the wedding. I think i have seen enough pictures. So i
would like to buy it off from you as will be relying on your judgment.
My method of payment would be through a Certified Check.
Please let me know the final asking price so i can make arrangements
as i will handle the shipment myself as i will be sending a mover down
to pick up the dress at your place.
NB: please provide me with your name and address to which the
Certified Check would be sent so we can rap this up real quick as the
wedding is just around the corner. I also want to inform you that
there will be an excess amount of funds which you will forward to my
mover (for shipment purposes).
Kind regards
Vanessa
Then when I realized it was a scam, I replied to an email from someone else that was "interested in the gown" and I got the EXACT SAME EMAIL from that "woman"!! What is wrong with people??
mistressnvanish@gmail.com is an email to watch out for.
