Looking for an E.G.C. colleague or teacher?

  1. Home
  2. E.G.C. English Girls College in Alexandria, Egypt

Here are some tips for trying to locate your ex-E.G.C. friends and colleagues, or even teachers and staff.First, try the Links and Resources page. There are many commerical sites that have a section on E.G.C., but their coverage is spotty. If you a relatively recent graduate, then contact your ex-colleagues. It is fairly easy to do so since not a lot of time has passed If you have graduated decades ago, like me, you can do the following:

  • Click on the add new comment below.
  • In your message, list the years you have been in EGC, your name, the name(s) of the persons you are looking for, and a way to contact you (phone, email, web site, ...etc.
  • Your message will be reviewed and published, and that can take a day or two.

Ragia

Ragia, your class year is 1976 (thanaweya 3ama) not 72.
In 72 we were in the same middle school class.
AN update for anyone reading this message a month after this message Ragia joined a Yahoo group dedicated to her class and got to communicate with many of her colleagues (happy ending).
If you are a graduate (or a close contemporary) of EGC's class of '76 ('73 for boys), the group is called EGCians. Go to Yahoo, select groups, then search for 'EGCians'.

Hi

Such a great site to come through. I met ashraf Elgohary by chance in Alexandria yesterday he's got the credit for informing me about this website.

pre 1956 EGC

Fri, 2007/08/10 - 16:52

This is such a long shot, when I was 11 in 1956, EGC closed down and we were thrown out of the country. I would love to hear about what happened since then.

I had a really happy time there from the age of about 7 until 11 and I remember the wonderful building, grounds and swimming pool and the very impressive driveway to the front

I am intending to visit Alexandria sometime around Christmas this year and wonder whether I can actually see the school. I have not visited it since 1956!!

I have read all the other comments and found only one relating tto the time I was there.

Yes, I remember Hoda, who had green eyes, and always had very good marks.

Here is the name in Arabic هدى علوان.

She used to live in Rushdy on Abou Kir Street.

No I don't know what happened to them, but hopefully someone else will know and comment below.
